Most college students lead busy lives. Schedules are full of classes, homework, internships, extracurricular activities, part-time jobs and more.
A challenge students face is balancing relationships with schoolwork. While some are casually dating, in committed relationships or swiping on dating apps, others are taking the next steps in their relationships. Instead of date nights, some students are planning their weddings.
This is the case for Otterbein senior Allison Wheeler. The 21-year-old zoo and conservation science major met and began dating her fiancée Adam Sullivan her freshman year. Sullivan recently graduated from Otterbein in December 2017 with a degree in math education. He proposed a few days after winter graduation in the campus chapel, where they first met. Wheeler and Sullivan plan to marry in June 2019, after they have both graduated.
Wheeler sat down with T&C Media to discuss what it is like planning a wedding while balancing a full course load, internship and other academic priorities. As stressful as planning a wedding can be, Wheeler emphasized that with support from loved ones, open communication with your fiance and patience with others and yourself, wedding planning is absolutely possible while you are still earning your degree.
