With Christmas just around the corner, many college students struggle to afford presents for family and friends.

There is an overload of presents students must buy. Instead of freaking out about going into debt, there are tons of ways you can save money on cheap, cool gift ideas. All it takes is a little creativity and dedication.

Homemade gifts are cheap, creative and fun ways to give to groups of friends and family.

"Picture collages are the best," said Otterbein sophomore public relations major Jeana Harrington. "They're really cute and barely cost a thing; people always love them."

According to Web sites Targetwomen.com and Familycrafts.about.com, there are plenty of homemade gift ideas that are sure to be a hit.

Some easy ideas include handmade photo albums, homemade cookies, jewelry holders, money holders, baking recipes, key chains, decorated coffee mugs, personalized towels and handmade Christmas ornaments.

Almost every college student is insanely busy with school, work and any extracurricular activities.

So, if there is no time to make any Christmas gifts, there are many ways to save money on buying inexpensive gifts.

"T.J. Maxx is my savior when it comes to last-minute gifts," said Harrington. "They have really cute stuff that's not expensive at all."

Some inexpensive gift ideas that can be purchased include magazines tied up with a ribbon, movie theater tickets, cookbooks, make-up kits, gift calendars, shot glasses, pajamas, cheap graphic tees, movies, music/celebrity posters or slippers.

With these ideas, you will save some of your hard-earned money during the Christmas season and give away great gifts that everyone will enjoy.

There are plenty of other Christmas gift ideas out there. Searching the Web will be your best bet, along with visiting discount stores and taking advantage of holiday sales.
