Otterbein golfer Matt Mosca talks Vegas and Josh Groban

Senior business major Matt Mosca is off to an impressive start at the beginning of his final year on the Otterbein men’s golf team. Mosca, a three-year letterman, looks to add to an already impressive list of accomplishments which includes two OAC championships and all-OAC honors.

So far this fall season the men’s golf team has won the OAC Fall Invitational with Mosca earning medalist honors during the tournament. He was also named OAC Golfer of the Week for his accomplishments. Yet even with all of this success Mosca still finds ways to stay loose and enjoy what he has around him.

Q: How did you first get into golf?

A: I actually started playing when I was about 10 years old. My uncle got me started by having me play on a nine-hole golf course.

Q: If you weren’t a golfer, would there be any other sport or activity that you would be doing instead?

A: I’d play soccer. I played soccer in high school so that’s probably what I’d do instead.

Q: If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring three things with you, what would they be?

A: I would bring a flashlight so that I could see in the dark, water and food. This is actually something that I learned from Dr. Sullivan.

Q: Who is the most embarrassing artist or band on your iPod?

A: Most embarrassing? I’ll definitely have to go with Josh Groban.

Q: If you had the chance to meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

A: Either Michael Jordan or Jennifer Aniston. But between the two, I think that I have to go with Jennifer Aniston.

Q: What are some of your favorite TV shows?

A: I still love Boy Meets World, that’s always a good one. I also like SportsCenter and this new show on the Golf Channel called On The Range.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: It’s definitely my grandma’s chicken. She makes this chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. It’s awesome.

Q: What is your idea of a good weekend?

A: Going to Vegas.

Q: What would you do in Vegas?

A: Well, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, am I right?

Q: Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus?

A: I work for Jack Nicklaus, but I’m going to have to say Tiger Woods. He’s from my era. I never got to see Jack play in his prime other than in videos.

Q: What do you mean that you work for Jack Nicklaus?

A: I work at the Muirfield Village Golf Club, which is home to the Memorial Tournament and this year’s President’s Cup. It’s considered to be Jack’s “home”. So technically, my boss is the Golden Bear.
