Sarah McPeak, who hosts Otterbein Japanese students, invited 24 international students and their host families to her house for dinner on Friday November 10th. She and her husband, Derek McPeak, have been hosting international Friday night every week for around six years. Sarah cooked a Japanese food called Oyakodon, which uses chicken, onion and ginger seasoned with sake, soy sauce and sugar. "We are going to eat a whole family," McPeak said after she knew that Oyako means parent-child in Japanese.  Sarah also cooked Chinese style chicken legs for Chen Wang, senior Business and Administration major, using his special recipe to make it in a more authentic Chinese style. Kana Nonoyama, a Japanese international student and ESL major, had her 21st birthday on November 7th in the US, which was the first time she celebrated her birthday out of her country. She was celebrated by her friends and host family who came to that night, and they sang happy birthday songs for her in their own languages of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Dutch and American all together. For a gift, she received a bottle of pram wine from Sarah.
