Otterbein University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “The Diary of Anne Frank” starring sophomore Tatum Beck as the title character. The play aims to show the realities of the struggles eight individuals faced in the years they spent hiding from the Nazis during World War II.
Production team members Mark Mineart, director, and T.J. Gerckens, lighting designer, said they are hoping the play evokes empathy from the audience and that the subject matter continues to be relevant because of widespread injustices that still occur today.
Gerckens also discusses his task of creating a sense of home on set while also showing the confinement that the characters experienced while living in the annex.
Showtimes for the performances are listed on Otterbein’s website along with how to purchase tickets.
