Otterbein men’s soccer team beat Muskingum 5-1

The team's record extends to 7-6

The Otterbein men’s soccer team honored senior players with a 5-1 victory over Muskingum University at Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. 

The first half consisted of strong defensive play from both teams, with the score being 0-0 heading into the second half. Otterbein lead the shot battle 7-3 in the first half. The Cardinals had two scoring opportunities in the 44th minute with shots on goal by juniors Kennedy Mensah and Eric Stucky.

Stucky started scoring for the Cardinals in the 54th minute, off a header assisted by Zach Barwick on a cross pass. This was his third goal of the season.

Shortly after, in the 61st minute, Kohei Adams converted a goal assisted by Stucky, making the score 2-0.

Muskingum's Drew Wise scored a goal in the 65th minute, making the score 2-1. 

Otterbein responded with a goal in the 67th minute by Stucky, his second goal of the game. He scored off a corner kick, heading the ball into the goal to make it 3-1. 

The Cardinals extended their lead to 4-1 with a goal in the same minute from Pau Piang.

Capping off scoring for the Cards was a goal in 79th minute from Kamal Mohammed, assisted by Erick Juarez-Manning. This put Otterbein ahead 5-1. 

The shot battle ended in favor of Otterbein, 22-7.

The Cardinals will host Ohio Northern on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
