Otterbein University's theater department is a nationally recognized program. While audiences see the spectacular performances that are put on the stage, there is a huge amount of unseen work that also goes on. These photos show some of the work and preparations it takes for the play 'Hay Fever' to be a smooth running and successful show.

Behind the scenes of Otterbein's "Hay Fever"

"Hay Fever" is a show that calls for teamwork from all aspects of the theater department especially from those who work behind the scenes.

The theater design and technology students of the theater department are responsible for costuming, sound, props, set and scenery, and hair and makeup.

Valerie Frizzell a theater design and technology major, is the wardrobe master for “Hay Fever.” She oversees the costume team and ensures that actors look their best before going on stage.

Actor Shelby McSwords transforms her physical appearance to become her character.

"The wig is, for me, what makes the transformation from Shelby to Jackie," said McSwords.
