Students Pledge Allegiance- Part 2

Most students know of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain, but is anybody familiar with Ron Paul?

There are a few Ron Paul fans around campus who think he's what this nation needs.

According to his Web site, Paul has never voted to raise taxes or congressional pay, nor to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against regulating the Internet and against the war in Iraq. He also voted gainst the Patriot Act, whichproposed using wiretaps without judicial oversight, making it easier for the government to monitor private Internet usage.

"Ron Paul stands for change," said senior Cory Roof, a history major who first discovered Paul last spring when members of Pi Beta Sigma fraternity gathered for the first Republican debate.

Roof described Paul as a "Washington outsider," saying that Paul has never taken money from lobbyists or corporate companies.

Matt Buettner, senior theatre design and technology major, also supports Ron Paul.

Buettner appreciates that Paul's foreign policies are well thought out.

"He attacks the root rather than the surface," said Buettner.
