To say that Otterbein athletics are in full force would certainly be an understatement.
When I write my column I try to shed light on some great things in Otterbein athletics. But, in light of some performances in the last couple of days, picking one would be an injustice to the others. So, instead, let's talk about the OAC championships.
The women's tennis team has now won eight matches in a row. The team is the number two seed in the OAC tournament right now and is coming off a 5-0 win over the seven seed Wilmington. They play the three seed Ohio Northern University Friday at high noon.
The women's golf team plays tournaments in both the fall and the spring. Combine both "seasons" and you have 11 tournaments.
Otterbein has won nine of those 11. Once again, we pause for emphasis.
The women's OAC Championship tournament is this Saturday and Sunday.
The men's golf team is the OAC regular champs - they won without Heath Trabue, who was out with a strained rotator cuff.
The men's OAC championship tournament is this Thursday and Friday. The men's and women's OAC track championships are this Friday and Saturday.
It is a busy time for Otterbein athletes. There are championships to be won and National championships to qualify for. The time for rest is not now, except for me. I'm still tired from getting my butt kicked in tennis.
Next week, part two of my competition with Otterbein athletics will continue, amid icing my ankles and applications of icy hot. t&c;
