Let's talk about 'Sex'

The girls are back and ready to light up the big screen. With even more drama, humor, fashion and cosmos, "Sex and the City" leaves audiences satisfied. The stars and cast of the hit television show reunite once again to create the movie event of the summer. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, these four actresses bring an intoxicating chemistry to the screen, leaving their loyal viewers wanting more. "Sex and the City" definitely takes its viewers on an emotional roller coaster ride, as always, focusing on the relationship between Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth, and Carrie, played by Parker. For 10 years Carrie and Big have been in an on-again, off-again relationship. This time around appears to be the real deal, which is why the possibility of marriage doesn't seem far off. But for two people who were never really interested in the idea of marriage, this underlying theme certainly plays a large role throughout the movie. The outcome of the relationship between Carrie and Big has been awaited by fans since the day the two characters were first introduced. Let's just say there are tears of both sadness and joy. However, this is not to say that the movie is entirely based around the Carrie and Big relationship. The three other A-list stars definitely have their fair share of situations and problems. Samantha, played by Cattrall, is hilarious as ever. No longer living in the glorious city of New York, she now resides in Los Angeles with her model boyfriend of nearly five years, Jerry 'Smith' Jerrod, played by Jason Lewis. From being a very independent woman to primarily depending on one man, Samantha realizes that she may not be as happy with her current life as she thought. Miranda, played by Nixon, is married to the love of her life but is unable to juggle the love she shares for her family with the work load of her job. The constant struggle of being alone leads her husband Steve, played by David Eigenberg, to do the unthinkable. Finally, there is Charlotte, played by Davis, who lives the perfect life with the perfect husband. As we found out during the TV series, Charlotte is unable to have a child of her own, which led the happy couple to adopt a beautiful little girl. She is known to be the sensible one, but there are many surprises in store for her in the film. The movie also introduces Jennifer Hudson as Carrie's personal assistant, Louise. Hudson's character came to New York to find love, but ends up taking on an even larger role in helping Carrie get back on her feet and teaching her the power of love. Hudson, an Oscar winner for "Dreamgirls," was a breath of fresh air in the film, because she introduced a different side to Carrie, a side that fans are not used to seeing. Director Michael Patrick King takes each character to a new height. He transforms the fabulous four by bringing more depth and maturity to their characters, which allows the audience to connect with each woman on a more personal level. "Sex and the City" focuses on the love that lies within friendship and family. King creates twists and turns throughout the movie. A single secret lies among the foursome, which proves to be very detrimental to the way things unfold. Each character goes through role and personality changes. It was interesting to see each character mature as the movie came to an end. "Sex and the City" kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. This is the type of movie that you can see over and over again and still find something to laugh about. It stays true to the series that graced HBO for six seasons. Through its transformation to the big screen, "Sex and the City" still remains a force. According to Entertainment Weekly critic Owen Glieberman, "Sex and the City" is, "a movie that taps directly back into the show's primal appeal, which is the sweet, sad, saucy delight of sharing these women's company." King created a masterpiece in terms of ending one of the funniest and most beloved TV shows of all time. Not only did fans have the chance to see their favorite leading ladies again, but were also given closure and a chance to finally move on to another show. The movie that all die-hard "Sex and the City" fans have been waiting for is set to open in theaters this Friday.
