Junior Tommy Waterwash wins the game with three-pointer in final seconds

The Otterbein men’s basketball team broke a seven game losing streak Wednesday, Jan. 25 with a 68-66 victory over Ohio Northern University.

The game was tight from the tip-off, but junior Tommy Waterwash hit a three-point shot with only 18 seconds left in the game to bring the Cardinals past the Polar Bears by two. Ohio Northern’s Branden Rushton and Scott Schnelle both tried to score again before the buzzer, but neither shots connected.

Besides marking win No. 650 for coach Dick Reynolds, who announced his retirement from the Otterbein athletics program on Monday, the game was also a career high for senior Brice Rausch, who surpassed the 1,000 point mark with his team-high 14 points.

Chris Davis and game-saver Tommy Waterwash each contributed 13 points as well.

High scorers for Ohio Northern were Branden Rushton and Scott Schnelle with 17 and 12 points respectively.

Otterbein travels to Marietta on Saturday for more OAC play at 3 p.m. and Ohio Northern is away again at John Carroll at 2 p.m.
