He graduated from Otterbein College in 1980 with a degree in business. After college, he came back and worked as Otterbein’s football and basketball manager for a few years.
In 1994, he was contacted by Athletic Director Dick Reynolds, and asked to come back as an equipment manager. Ford has been the athletic facilities administrator and equipment manager at Otterbein for the last 19 years. Ford has been part of the athletic staff longer than any other person in the athletic department.
“Laundry is pretty time consuming. I have to wash all of it each night and make sure everything is put away in the right places before practice the next day. It can be stressful at times,” says Ford.
“I never really thought about it, but Skip does so much for the soccer team. I always just saw him as the man that did our laundry. He does so much more for this team and I don’t think people realize that,” said junior soccer player, Alicia Contrascier.
“After working here for so long, I think it would be difficult to just stop coming to all of the athletic events. I’ll probably still go to the football games and I’ll attend some basketball games,” said Ford.
