Otter Ball: Good music, good friends, good fun

Editor-in-Chief Amy Hissrich reflects on the inaugural Otter Ball

Otterbein held the first Otter Ball this past weekend, and let me tell you, it was a lot of fun.

I originally had my reservations about it. I thought that while it would have been fun to go with a group of friends, there wasn't anything I wanted to do more that Saturday night than go to bed at a reasonable time.

I'm glad I didn't.

It was so fun first to walk in and see Center for Student Engagement and Student Affairs members wearing tuxedo shirts as they checked everybody in. It was even more fun to see all the ladies from the Bean working the drinks and the food counter.

The best part, though, was the dancing. When we first got there, we didn't see many people on the floor. I was worried that it was going to be like that all night. However, around 9:15, the dance floor was full of people dancing to Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston, doing the Wobble, and screaming Taylor Swift songs.

It was a little bit like a high school homecoming, but honestly, that was okay. All of us had fun, and it was something different for the students. If you missed out this year, make sure to get your ticket for the next one, because it didn't disappoint.
