New faces in Otterbein baseball could produce success in the OAC

The team hopes to improve their record, overall and in the OAC

With some new faces on the team, Otterbein baseball looks toward meeting more goals in the 2024 season.

After finishing last season with a record of 27-13, they look to improve on and off the field and move up in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) standings. Currently, there are 12 new additions to the roster.

The team ended up finishing fourth in the conference with only 7 losses last season. Those 7 losses were against John Carroll University, Ohio Northern University, Marietta College, and Baldwin Wallace University.

This season, there has been an increase in the coaching staff. Jake Brown, a junior infielder on the team says that this could help the team be successful in the postseason.

The increase in coaches and attentiveness to each and every player is something I haven’t seen in the two years I’ve been here prior. Through this the team hopes to reach all our goals both in regular and post season," says Brown.

Brown is looking forward to the season to improve his personal goals as well.

“Each year working behind an older group is more years to learn and prepare so that when my time is here, I’m ready for it,” says Brown.

The team kicks off their season on Feb. 24th at the Derby City Classic against Wooster in Louisville, Kentucky. Their conference games will start on Mar. 23, against John Carroll University.
