The Otterbein baseball team got its annual spring break trip started off on the right foot with a double-header sweep of Wisconsin-Stout.

Senior David Cydrus started game one on the mound for the Cardinals and threw a complete
game, giving up three runs and striking out seven as Otterbein won 9-3.

Leading the way offensively for Otterbein was freshman outfielder Tyler Kent who went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scoring two runs. Junior Thomas Linder went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI
and a run scored.

The Cardinals scored four runs in both the second and fourth inning, the latter of which came
with two swings of the bat. It started with Linder who hit a two-RBI single, bringing in Kent and
Wes Meadows to score. Then the next batter, sophomore Jordan Ashbrook, took a pitch deep to
right-center field for his first homerun of the season.

Senior Matt Frey took to the mound to start for the Cardinals in game two against the Blue
Devils. Frey started off shaky, giving up a hit and three walks, but escaped without giving up a
run.

Otterbein responded in the bottom of the first by scoring five runs and forcing starting pitcher
Cody Loertscher out of the game after only recording one out.

Those would be the only runs the Cardinals would score however, as Frey gave up three runs on
two hits to the Blue Devils over four innings and Dom Porretta provided three scoreless innings
of relief effort.

The 5-3 victory marked Otterbein’s fifth win in a row and moved their record on the season to 6-
1.
