Twelve Japanese students are attending Otterbein University this year, with many of them visiting as part of a study abroad agreement started in 2014 with Aichi Prefectural University in Nagakute, Aichi, Japan. Otterbein’s first Japanese student came to Westerville from Yamato, Fukushima more than a century ago. Archivist Stephen Grinch tells us about Kiyoshi Yabe, a member of the class of 1912 who went on to become a United Brethren minister. Otterbein Students Protest Against ICE
January 22On January 20, 2026, students at Otterbein University (and nearby residents) gather together marching with signs, megaphones, and speakers to protest the recent ICE activity. The protest starts with a National Walkout at 2:00 PM and the crowd processes through the streets of Uptown Westerville immediately preceding the arrival at City Hall.
