This is Brandon's hardest workout of the day. He steps off the tire and jumps over the hurdles to help his burst speed.
This workout is essential to the runner's balance. After this Brandon is going to step off and burst into a sprint.
Freshman year, Brandon was ranked 91st nationally. This year he is a Junior and has now worked his way to 5th nationally in the 110 meter hurdles. He wants to win a national title before he leaves Otterbein.
This is how Brandon gets his legs loose before he begins his more advanced workouts. He is simply trying to get his leg above the hurdle and thus stretching those important muscles.
His right leg is his trail leg. When Brandon jumps over a hurdle he leads with his left leg and his right leg follows behind. He does five sets of twenty reps to get his leg comfortable with getting over the hurdle.
Brandon is measuring out three strides before he sets up his hurdles.
It has been a cold spring so Brandon is soaking in every moment during a nice day.
