After a long and winding 17 years, Head Baseball Coach George Powell has reached a milestone that only seven men had reached before him, his 400th win. On April 5 in Berea, the Cardinals blitzed the host Yellow Jackets for eight runs in the second inning and cruised the rest of the way to a 12-4 victory.

This Thursday evening, Theater Chair John Stefano will be taking the stage for the last show of his professional career. Stefano, the head of the Theatre and Dance department, is playing the lead role, Tevye, in this semester’s musical, Fiddler on the Roof. He will be retiring this summer after 47 years in the theater industry.

Much like the Otterbein softball team, the baseball team returned home from a week in Florida with their spirits high. The Cardinals opened their season with eight consecutive strikeouts against Division I foe Chicago State. After the inauspicious start, a two-out rally energized the team en route to a 5-3 come-from-behind victory over the Cougars. It was the team's first victory over a D-1 school since 2011, although the team hasn't had any opportunities since then.

One year removed from last season's 2-6 record over spring break in Florida, the Otterbein softball team returned to Westerville with a sterling record. The Cardinals found a variety of ways to win games. Whether they were close, extra-inning affairs, or five-inning blowouts, the results were the same, an Otterbein victory.

Just one short season season ago, the Otterbein baseball team got off to its hottest start in recent history. The team took its traditional spring trip to Florida, and returned home after the week with a sparkling 9-1 record. Otterbein would ultimately push that start out to 11-1 before losing its final game heading into OAC play.

The Center for Community Engagement has put together a program to provide students with opportunities to volunteer both on and off campus as well as to address the issue of food insecurity on Otterbein’s campus. The program is called Promise House, and it is made up of smaller programs such as a food co-op, a spring break “staycation” and other volunteering opportunities.

The first lacrosse game of the 2016 season is coming up on

times a week, preparing for the upcoming season.
