Students that signed up to volunteer during the first portion of the event received an Earth Festival shirt and water bottle.
Members from Plan-it Earth, the Center for Community Engagement and the Otterbein Animal Conservation Club from Otterbein University hosted the Earth Festival on April 7 from 2pm to 6pm. The rough draft of the poster advertisement helps members to draw it out on a larger scale to eventually be displayed on campus.
Sophomore Charlie LaShell has been the talk of the art building. His paintings have drawn much attention from both faculty, and students, so much that he switched his major just last week, turning his art minor into a major.
"Enter at your own risk," said LaShell about his studio space. It may look messy, but this is the palette of a master in the making.
LaShell stands back and admires some of his paintings that he has created this past semester during his independent study with painting professor Louise Captein.
After several strokes, and several steps back to look, he exhaled with frustration. There are layers upon layers of paints in all different colors and designs as LaShell searches for the perfect place to stop and call it finished.
"You're looking at several hundred dollars in supplies," said LaShell, and that's just this semester alone. Painting is one of the most expensive concentrations in the art department.
One student, Megan Bennett, takes a break from her studies to hang out at a friend's house and polish up on her Fortnite skills. Bennett is a junior business administration major and marketing minor.
This is Brandon's hardest workout of the day. He steps off the tire and jumps over the hurdles to help his burst speed.
This workout is essential to the runner's balance. After this Brandon is going to step off and burst into a sprint.
Freshman year, Brandon was ranked 91st nationally. This year he is a Junior and has now worked his way to 5th nationally in the 110 meter hurdles. He wants to win a national title before he leaves Otterbein.
This is how Brandon gets his legs loose before he begins his more advanced workouts. He is simply trying to get his leg above the hurdle and thus stretching those important muscles.
