Men's cross country seeks fourth straight nationals appearance

Otterbein's cross country teams prepare for the fall 2022 season, which starts on Sept. 1

Entering his sixth year as the assistant head coach, Thomas Bambach expressed excitement about the fall season. “We are adding student athletes who can contribute right away, and we are adding others who I think have a lot of potential and a lot of upsides."

Bambach continued, "We finished up well. The men were second in the conference, second in the region and 16th at nationals. That was our third national appearance in a row, which we are really excited about."

"The women were fifth in the conference and finished 24th in the region. On the women's side, we have a lot of growth to go. We only had one senior so we’re all glad they are coming back," Bambach said.

Looking ahead, Bambach said, "We are going to be very senior-heavy so we are looking forward to the fall and we are definitely much improved. Both teams have major potential and we continue to bring in quality student-athletes, great kids talented as both students and athletes, so we are really excited to bring them into the fold and get them started here."

The men begin the season ranked 13th in the preseason USTFCCCA national rankings.

The cross country teams begin their season with the Muskie Open on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 4 p.m.
