After a hard-working preseason, the Otterbein women’s basketball team will be kicking off their season opener today as they travel to Anderson University to face the Falcons at 5:30 p.m.
Juju Grubich, a guard, is one of the two seniors on the team this year. “We have worked hard this preseason by working on and off the field to succeed this season,” Grubich said.
They hope to take the win against Anderson, as it is their first time facing each other in years. Looking ahead into the season, the "biggest competition this season in the OAC will be Capital University and Ohio Northern University,” Grubich said. They took a tough loss against Capital twice, with the score being 50-58 for the 2024-2025 season.
When it comes to Ohio Northern University, they lost 55-64 last season, but went into double overtime before taking the loss. They hope to get revenge and take the win this year.
With the Cardinals starting their season on Nov. 7, their main goals are to "win the OAC and to fight hard to beat the teams we lost to, and win again against the teams we beat last year,” Grubich said.
“We were able to team bond a lot outside of practice and during practice,” Grubich said as she described how they have worked towards the season so far. After their hard work in the preseason, the team hopes it will pay off when it comes to challenging the other teams in the OAC.
