The women's basketball team defeated Capital on Saturday with a score of 74-54, marking their first win against the Comets since 2022.
With this win, the Cardinals move to 13-4 overall and 7-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.
Junior sports management major Abby Rawlings said it felt great to finally beat them. "It’s been a long time coming," said Rawlings. "We have been preparing for this all season. It’s great to see our effort come through."
Mattie Walburn, a sophomore criminology and political science major, said that this win was a turning point for the team. "We worked as a cohesive group and played well together," said Walburn. "That allowed us to chain some good wins together."
Walburn also said, “This game shows that we’re not just able to compete with good teams — we’re able to win against good teams.”
“This win feels really, really good," said junior nursing major Nicole Terry. "We are a very close team. Our team has a great culture, and now we’re making sure winning is a part of our culture so we can pass it down.”
The women’s basketball team looks to carry this momentum with their next matchup against Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
