Recently John Fox announced that for the next few weeks Tim Tebow will be the starter for the Denver Broncos. He played in the second half of last week’s game against the San Diego Chargers and didn’t look bad. He went 4-10 for 79 yards and a touchdown through the air and 38 yards and a touchdown on the ground. So should he be the starting quarterback? Absolutely not.

Tim Tebow is a leader, has a great work ethic, and is overall a nice guy. However he doesn’t have the mechanics or fundamentals to play quarterback. Tebow has an elongated throwing motion and holds the ball too low, which can cause fumbles. His accuracy is good at times and is just plain awful during others. He also tends to look at the defensive line while in the pocket instead of keeping his eyes downfield to look for an open receiver.

Tebow will start after the bye week against the Miami Dolphins and will look to get his first win as a starter this season. Maybe he’ll prove everyone wrong and become a great quarterback in the league. However Tebow might show what many people already see, a quarterback that can run but not pass. It’s a shame that we have to wait a while before he starts but I’m sure fans of the Broncos are not disappointed. They’ve been waiting for this to happen for a while.
