It’s just one bad loss after another for the Otterbein Cardinals. This past weekend the Cards lost a close one to Capital, 24-20.

I am frankly getting fed up with this season. My prediction last week was that the Cards would beat Capital and try to turn things around. That didn’t happen. The team is currently on a five game losing streak and there might be no end in sight.

In their next two games the Cards have to go on the road and face Muskingum and Mount Union. Muskingum is currently 4-2 and Mount Union is 6-0. I don’t give the Cards a shot to win either of these games and definitely not both.

They still have two final home games which could end the season on a happy note if the Cardinals can win them both. However I feel that this season has been a bust and the coaches need to work towards next year. The team won’t have a winning season and it will be highly unlikely if they end up .500. It’s certainly a disappointing season for all fans and players.

What this team needs going forward are impact playmakers, one or more players that can go into a game and change the outcome with just one play. Maybe there will be some guys that step up next year or perhaps the head coach, Joe Loth, will recruit someone that will make a difference on the team right away. Who knows, maybe the Cards will have a winning season next year, but it’s time to admit defeat this year.
