It’s just a week into the new college basketball season and OSU is proving why they deserve to be ranked number three.

The Bucks started their first game last Friday against Wright State and dominated. Jared Sullinger did his business as usual getting 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. William Buford was also a threat scoring 13 points and having 4 assists. Aaron Craft also proved beneficial with 10 points and 3 steals. The team overall looked great in their first game of the season.

However no one really cared about this game except die hard Ohio State basketball fans.

The game everyone was waiting for was their matchup with the Florida Gators which happened on Tuesday. The Gators were ranked 8th in the nation and they were the real test to see if Ohio State is as good as people claim they are. They looked bad in the first half until they went on a 13-5 scoring run to end the half with the lead, 35-32. Then in the second half Ohio State turned on the jets and kept them going till the game ended in an 81-74 win for the Bucks second win of the season.

William Buford had 21 points and Sullinger had 16. Aaron Craft added 13 points and had 7 assists while Deshaun Thomas provided 16 of his own and 6 rebounds. Out of all of those guys Billy Donovan, coach of the Gators, said that Craft was the difference in the game.

“Clearly he dominated the game from start to finish,” he said. “He was the whole key. He physically manhandled our guys — steals, strips, loose balls and drives.”

So what’s next for the Buckeyes? Well they play four no name teams and then on Nov. 29th they will host the Duke Blue Devils, the team that will be the most difficult for the Buckeyes this season. I certainly can’t wait till that matchup. Then I’ll know how good Ohio State really is.
