Today the Angels made a historic move in Major League Baseball. After Miami and St. Louis gave Pujols their offers, L.A. threw theirs in to Pujols and he accepted. The contract is 10 years, $250 million. It was $50 million more than what Miami offered him and $30 million more than what St. Louis offered.

It was all about the money with Pujols. Whoever offered the most for ten years was going be the team that got him. It didn’t matter about the perks that Miami was offering or the loyalty to the fans in St. Louis.

What makes things even crazier is that the Angels also got pitcher, C.J. Wilson for $77.5 million. Wilson was most wanted by Miami who offered him a six year deal but turned it down to join Pujols in L.A. He also reportedly took less money to join them as well.

So on a day when it was supposed to be either the Marlins or the Cardinals to get the biggest player, the Angels sneak in and grab him. Now many heads have turned to L.A. and the discussions have begun as to whether they will be an impact team in the AL West and even the AL for that matter.

I’m excited to see what this team will look like and how they’ll perform with their two new stars. They’re batting average and runs will certainly be upgraded and their defense will be as well. They are now even a playoff team with these two guys. It should make for an interesting start to the season in the spring.
