Chris Paul, CP3, is getting a lot of attention after his agent announced that he wanted to be traded to the Knicks. Last year the Knicks picked up Amare Stoudemire in free agency before the season started. Then during the season they acquired Carmelo Anthony in a trade with Denver. That benefited them as they were trying to get home field advantage during the first round of the playoffs.

Now analysts are debating that if the Knicks could get Paul, they would have a better chance to keep up with the Big 3 and Boston in the Eastern Conference playoffs. I agree they would because CP3 is a general when he is on the floor. He knows who to get the ball to and how to get everyone involved. He’s the reason the Hornets made it to the playoffs and almost upset the Lakers in the first round.

Now the chances that the Knicks get Paul this year are slim to none. The Knicks traded everyone they had that was of value for Anthony. They currently have no one the Hornets are interested in and Paul would have to take a pay cut. I don’t think that’s any problem if he has a better chance of winning a title.

The Hornets have announced that they would like to trade Paul for the best offer. Many teams want him but they are afraid that he will leave after one year because he becomes a free agent in 2012. The Celtics, Mavs, and Rockets aren’t too worried about that but would the Hornets trade him to those teams? I think that if he goes to Boston or Dallas he would sign an extension because those teams are already championship worthy.

That would be heartbreaking news to the Knicks organization because they would still have to find one more player to become like the Big 3. I can’t wait to see how this all ends. Too bad the lockout isn’t over yet.
