It’s been one heck of a crazy week for the UCLA football team. Last Monday UCLA announced that they would fire Rick Neuheisel after a 6-6 season. He would however still coach the PAC-12 Championship game against Oregon which was last Friday. They lost that game, what a shocker. Then the bowl selection show aired Sunday night and put UCLA in the Kraft Hunger Bowl with Illinois.

UCLA currently has a record of 6-7 and will be the first team with a losing record to go to a bowl game. The reason for this was because they went to their conference championship game and due to that they get a bowl bid. What a disgrace. The only reason they went to a bowl game was because USC is banned from any postseason games, including conference championships, until next year. All the other teams in the Southern Division had a worse conference record than UCLA.

I think that any team with a losing record, even if they make the conference championship, doesn’t deserve to make a bowl game. I mean what is this, pee wee football and everyone gets a trophy. This reminds me of Seattle winning the division with a losing record and hosting a playoff game to the Saints who had ten wins. What a joke.

I really hope that Illinois wins this game because I would hate to imagine what would happen if a team with a losing record won. It might lead to more teams with losing seasons going to bowl games because it’s all about the money. Hopefully none of that happens and Illinois wins. Hopefully.
