Chaffins graduated from Columbus Alternative High School (CAHS) located on the north side, which is known for its high academic standards and its wide array of class offerings. He heard about Otterbein through I Know I Can (a non-profit college access program in Columbus) that placed a representative at CAHS. His representative encouraged him to apply to multiple schools around Columbus, including Otterbein. "When I was looking though all my acceptance letters and all the different financial aid packages, Otterbein had the best financial aid package," said Chaffins.
