Two honors students were told Monday to move out of the Honors theme house, located on 47 W. Main St., after it was discovered that two non-Otterbein students had been living there with them.
Senior English major Greg McCleery and James Orr, a senior math major, were in violation of the Otterbein visitation policy for campus housing. A 22-year-old and his girlfriend had been living in the house.
While he said the punishment was reasonable, McCleery said, "I'm not sure it reflects the Christian ideals of altruism."
McCleery said he agreed to let the male move in after he fell into financial problems.
An initial Jan. 15 security investigation found a theme house to have alcohol and weapons violations as well, according to security's incident log. The weapons violation was apparently dropped.
Otterbein security could not provide any further information about the incident, said Investigator Jason Schilling.
On campus theme and Greek housing still have visitation policies, said Jeff Akers, the assistant director for residence life.
There are common areas to these houses that are open 24 hours, but guests can only stay overnight for two nights in a row. If they wish to stay longer, they must contact the director of residence life directly, said Akers.
Akers said federal law prevented him from commenting on any specific disciplinary incidents.
