Otterbein volleyball will be saying goodbye to their most successful class in the program's history.
The class of 2026 have won three regular-season OAC championships, four OAC tournament championships, and made four NCAA tournament appearances.
They made it look easy, but their success was rooted in hard work and unity.
“We all knew what the expectations were coming in that our goal was to push the person in front of us and to promote an environment of healthy competition every single day,” said OAC tournament MVP setter Olivia Vitaz. “Even though we have a lot of wins under our belts in our career, they haven’t come without tough losses. I feel like we have learned from those tough losses throughout our career, and that has promoted a lot of growth and the ability to push through those times of adversity.”
Vitaz, a senior psychology major, credited the players who came before her class for shaping them as players. “One thing our upperclassmen distilled in us was just continually trust, give, and grow," said Vitaz. "Those are our core values as a team. I think that the classes above us genuinely made an effort to really play into these core values that we have set as a team, and it has paid dividends for us throughout our careers as seniors.”
The underclassmen will look to follow in the footsteps of the historic class of 2026.
