Otterbein Women's soccer loses 1-0 in OAC semifinal

The Otterbein women’s soccer team lost 1-0 in an OAC semifinal match against Capital University Thursday, Nov. 3.

The lone goal was scored by Capital’s Tara Zimmer, who buried the ball in the net after out pacing the Cardinal’s defense with a pass sent up the middle of the pitch from teammate Kaylee Phillips.

In the second half the Cardinals would come out strong keeping the attack in Capital’s half totaling a 9-6 shot ratio over the Crusaders and also leading the match in corner kicks with six compared to Capital’s two.

The Cardinals would only find one shot to be on goal out of the nine totaled between senior Adrienne Novak with three, junior Molly Kroger with two and juniors Rachel Denz and Molly Newhouse , sophomore Morgan Hendrickson and freshmen Melinda Stemen each owning a shot that was off target.

Seniors Novak and Alyssa Hale came close to having the most wins for their class in OAC history, that is currently set at 68 had the Cardinals walked away with the victory.

This match concludes the women’s soccer season leaving them with a record of 10-6-2 overall for the 2011 campaign.
