Todd Adrian Resigns as Otterbein Men's Basketball coach

It was officially announced Thursday afternoon that Todd Adrian has resigned as men’s basketball coach at Otterbein. Adrian, who just completed his third season at the helm, finished his tenure with an overall record of 15-63.

Adrian took the job after leading Edgewood College (WI) to a 97-65 record in his six year tenure. In each of his three seasons, the team’s win totals decreased from the previous season, culminating in a three win campaign this past year.

The move comes as a surprise to Adrian, as he was upbeat recently about the potential of his current players and their ability to compete in upcoming seasons.

“I want to build this team for the long haul,” Adrian said on Monday. “I’m not here to finish third or fourth, and I’m definitely not here to win three games. I’m here to be a consistent winner in the OAC and compete for national championships.”

Some of the players were also surprised by the move. Freshman forward Clayton Schaefer, who played in nine games this season, said the team will continue to strive towards reclaiming a national championship.

“As a program we are going to go in a new direction with a head coach,” Schaefer said. “The athletic director is currently in the process of trying to find someone who is going to lead us to our next national championship."

Otterbein athletic director Dawn Stewart has started a national search for the next head coach.
