Director of Development and alumnus Nick Wood excited to give back to Otterbein

Alumnus Nick Wood is the new Director of Development at Otterbein University.

In this position, Wood assists mainly with major gift fundraising for the Where We Stand campaign. Wood works with alumni and friends of the University to raise funds to support the campaign.

Wood graduated from Otterbein in 2010 with a BA in both Journalism and Public Relations. During his time as an Otterbein Student he was involved mainly with the Tan and Cardinal newspaper. Picking up Public Relations as a major peaked his curiosity in fundraising.

Before coming to Otterbein, Wood had a fundraising job with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society where he managed a program called “Team in Training.” After holding that position for two years, Wood moved on to Ohio Dominican University where he was the Associate Director of Development-Athletics for three years. There he planned different events like an athletic fundraiser where there was a dinner and auction.

“I’ve always wanted to come back to Otterbein to help.” Wood said. With the campaign going and the opportunity to take the position, Wood says that he had enough experience to come back and assist the team.”

Wood gives credit to the Tan and Cardinal newspaper for helping get his start. He mentions that working with the newspaper taught him discipline, which transferred over to his working habits.

Wood’s main goal is to assist with finishing the campaign.

“There have been these big fundraising pushes at a time where Otterbein needed to grow,” Wood said. At this present time, the Where We Stand campaign is the main fundraiser going on for Otterbein in order for the expansion of Otterbein to occur. Wood is happy to see that people are excited and are involved with reaching the end goal and for the campaign being successful.
