Mens' basketball brings new coach and new direction

On Tuesday of this week the Otterbein athletic department announced the University’s new head basketball coach. 29-year old Brian Oilar was selected out of more than 250 applicants.

Oilar is taking over for former coach Todd Adrian.

Oilar, who has been an assistant coach at his alma mater of DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana since 2009, is expected to be on campus next week to begin his coaching duties.

In his six years at DePauw the Tigers compiled an overall record of 104-58. He was a four year basketball letterman for the Tigers, graduating in 2008. This is Oilar’s first head coaching job.

Otterbein’s student radio station 97.5 WOBN’s sports director David Kinder had a chance to talk on the phone with Oilar during the Cardinal Sports Wrap about his reaction to getting the job and what goals he brings to Otterbein.
