In case you missed it:

US :

- A recent video pulled from a police officer's body camera in Richmond, OH shows him doing everything right, as the officer arrests a man suspected of double homicide. CNN compared similar videos that have been a focus of public attention since Michael Brown's death in Ferguson, MO, highlighting the rescue of a woman from her car seconds before it exploded after an accident in on a New Jersey roadway, and the accidental shooting of an unarmed victim in Tulsa, OK, when reserve deputy Robert Bates mistook his pistol for a Taser.

-  In 2013, Lelisa Desisa returned his first place medal from the men's Boston Marthon that he won two hours before the bombs went off. Earlier today, he won again as the sentencing trial for surviving bomber, Dzhokhar Tasrnaev, continues.

- Many Target stores around the nation ran out of Lily Pulitzer apparel within four minutes of opening.

World:

- Jason Rezaian, a correspondent in Iran for the Washington Post since 2012, and his wife Yeganeh Salehi, were detained nine months ago after appearing on the CCN segment Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. He is accused of four crimes, including espionage, and is being held and tried in accordance with his Iranian citizenship only, despite having dual-citizenship with the US. The charges against him were only formally revealed recently.

- An endangered species of Cuban crocodile has been successfully bred in captivity and released back into the wild.

- There have always been a great number of immigrants and victims of human trafficking crossing the Mediterranean from Africa to Eurpoe, but recently the number of both people and deaths from these journeys has become so great that European Union law makers are struggling to keep up. With an estimated 35,000 refugees since the start of 2015, and around 3,500 deaths at sea, Doctors Without Borders have officially declared their involvement in this crisis, as the Italian minister for European affairs said, "There's not enough space in Sicily's cemeteries to bury the dead."

- In a move to secure their hold on southern Asia and open trading routes to the Indian ocean, China just unveiled a plan to spend $46 billion on a new super highway called the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, connecting the east Asian super power to Pakistan. Composed of roads, railways, and pipe lines, and set to run about 3000km (1800 miles, or about the distance from Otterbein to Pheonix, AZ) this spending venture far exceeds any spending by the US in the area.
