T&C Media previews Otterbein sports over spring break

Cardinals continue to compete over break in Florida, Virginia and Massachusetts

Spring break is fast approaching, but Otterbein sports will continue while students are off-campus. Baseball, softball, tennis, golf and lacrosse will be spending spring break in Florida. Wrestling and track will be competing in their respective NCAA championships.

The Otterbein baseball team will be in Port Charlotte and Fort Myers for the duration of spring break. Their schedule is as follows:

Saturday March 2:  Doubleheader against Misericordia (2 p.m) and Mitchell College (5:30 p.m.)

Sunday March 3: Misericordia (3 p.m.)

Monday March 4: Bluffton (5:30 p.m)

Wednesday March 6: Saint Johns (Minn) (3 p.m.)

Thursday March 7: Alvernia (12 p.m.)

Friday March 8: U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (12 p.m.)

Saturday March 9: Augustana (12 p.m.)

Sunday March 10: Vassar (12 p.m.)

The Cardinals’ home opener in Westerville will be Tuesday March 12 playing host to Denison.

The Otterbein softball team will spend spring break in Kissimmee and Clermont. Their schedule will run as follows:

Sunday March 3: Doubleheader against Penn State Hazleton (11:30 a.m.) and Penn State Berks (1:45 p.m.)

Monday March 4: Doubleheader against Bates (9 a.m.) and Defiance (6:15 p.m.)

Tuesday March 5: Doubleheader against Muhlenberg (12:15 p.m.) and Misericordia (2:30 p.m.)

Thursday March 7: Doubleheader against Widener (10 a.m.) and Thiel (12:15 p.m.)

Friday March 8: Doubleheader against Trine (9:45 a.m.) and Plymouth State (2:15 p.m.)

Upon returning from break, the Cardinals will open home play with a doubleheader against Denison.

Men’s and women’s tennis will both be traveling to Orlando. The women’s schedule will run as follows:

Sunday March 3: Penn State Berks (11:30 a.m.)

Monday March 4: Matches against St. Francis (Illinois) (8 a.m.) and Carthage (3 p.m.)

Wednesday March 6: Matches against Trine (8 a.m.) and Suny Oneonta (6:30 p.m.) 

Thursday March 7: Midway (8 a.m.)

Friday March 8: Mary (11:30 a.m.)

The men’s schedule will run as follows:

Sunday March 3: Penn State Berks (11:30 a.m.)

Monday March 4: Carthage (3 p.m.)

Tuesday March 5: Emerson (3 p.m.)

Wednesday March 6: Trine (8 a.m.)

Thursday March 7: Midway (Ky.) (8 a.m.)

After spring break, women’s tennis will play host to Mount Union on March 23 to open home and conference play. Men’s tennis will open home play with a match against Penn State Behrend on March 16.

Along with the tennis teams, both Otterbein golf teams will have matches in Orlando during spring break against Ohio Northern on Tuesday March 5. Men’s golf will face off with Mount St. Joseph on Saturday March 23. Women’s golf will face off against Marietta after spring break on March 23 and 24.

Men’s lacrosse will be spending time in Clearwater during spring break. They will have two games starting March 7 against Emmanuel and March 9 against Eastern. Shortly after returning from spring break, Otterbein men’s lacrosse will have its home opener against Oberlin Wednesday March 13.

Women’s lacrosse will have two games this spring break in Clearwater and Orlando. The first game will be against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Monday March 4, and the second game against Oneonta on Wednesday March 6. After returning from spring break, the Cardinals will travel to Cincinnati on Wednesday March 13 for a game against Mount St. Joseph. 

Saturday March 9 will see track and field will travel Roxbury Cross, Massachusetts to compete in the NCAA indoor track and field championships. Wrestling will travel to Roanoke, VA to compete in the NCAA championships.
