Otterbein women's basketball loses last game of the regular season to #12 Baldwin Wallace

Cardinals finish their regular season 12-13

Otterbein women’s basketball lost a rough game against #12 Baldwin Wallace at home to close out the season.

The Cardinals played well and remained neck and neck with Baldwin Wallace until the final quarter of the game when the Yellow Jackets took off.

Baldwin Wallace struck early and outscored Otterbein in the first quarter by a score of 24-14, but strong defense and an offensive rally brought the Cardinals within five points at halftime.

Otterbein opened up the half with a strong defensive effort, but failing to capitalize on offense to take a lead. Baldwin Wallace blew the game wide open with three minutes left with a quick 10-0 run, outscoring the Cardinals 22-8 in the final quarter.

Baldwin Wallace lived and died by the three point shot during the game, shooting 75% from beyond the arc in the first and fourth quarters when they dominated. In the second and third quarters, the Yellow Jackets only went 1-5 and 1-8 from three.

Otterbein sophomore guard Jenna Hoschouer led the Cardinals in scoring with 13, and added six rebounds while senior guard Abbie Scholz added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Otterbein finished the season 12-13 with a 7-11 conference record. The Cardinals will try to get redemption as they take on Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Ohio on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in the OAC Tournament.
