Otterbein women's basketball overpower Mount Union to go to the Ohio Athletic Conference final

Otterbein women's basketball defeated Mount Union for the third time this season 68-58 last night in the Ohio Athletic Conference semi-finals.

It was a close contest leading into the fourth quarter where sophomore forward Mattie Walburn led her team to victory. She was knocking down shots from the mid-range all night with a career high of 23 points. Walburn was recently named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference first team.

Another massive contributor to the Cardinals success was Ohio Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, freshmen center, Cameron Sparks. She had a dominant performance in the paint scoring 16 points and hauling in 6 rebounds. Sparks was also named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference second team.

The Cardinals head to Berea, Ohio tomorrow to face the nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets in the Ohio Athletic Conference final at 1 p.m.

Otterbein's only two losses in the conference this season were against Baldwin Wallace who have not lost a game since November.

The Otterbein Cardinals have a chance to win its first Ohio Athletic Conference title in the program's history. The only years the team has been in the Ohio Athletic Conference finals were 2013 and 2004 -- when coach Diana Noles was a player.
