Save money with one of these Valentine's Day date night deals

Love is in the air this Valentine’s Day, but for many students, so is the emptiness in their pockets.

With tight budgets, they are finding creative ways to show appreciation without draining their bank accounts. While some high-end restaurants create luxury experiences, several local places and fast food chains also advertise more affordable options.

For a more high-end evening, Eddie Merlot’s is offering its “Tomahawk Trio for Two” for $199. The special, available for a limited time, includes a 32-ounce Australian Wagyu tomahawk ribeye, two North Atlantic lobster tails, and a bottle of Daou Pessimist wine. It’s available to dine-in customers while supplies last.

Butcher & Rose offers Valentine's weekend features Feb. 13 to Feb. 15, such as king crab ravioli available for $27 and Westholme Wagyu short rib available for $59. Similarly, Little West Tavern will offer a three-course prix fixe Valentine’s menu for $85 per person from Feb. 13 through Feb. 15.

El Vaquero in Columbus is offering steak or chicken fajitas for two for $49.99 with two jumbo alcoholic drinks. Carrabba’s Italian Grill offers a promo for a four-course meal for two that only costs $65: an appetizer, soup or a salad, and two entrees.

For students looking to save some money, there are various fast food chains offering themed specials. White Castle is again offering its annual Valentine's Day dine-in experience. Reservations started Jan. 6, inviting guests to enjoy hostess seating, tableside service, and festive décor — a tradition that has captured attention for transforming the fast food chain into a candlelit dining space.

Qdoba is offering a buy-one-get-one-free entree with the purchase of an entree and drink only on Feb. 14. Some Waffle House locations will be holding candlelight dinners on white tablecloths on Feb. 14. Chick-fil-A has heart-shaped trays of biscuits, nuggets, or brownies, and Dairy Queen has heart-shaped cakes and other Valentine's Day-themed treats starting Jan. 26.

Having a range of choices from indulgent dining experiences to innovative fast food ideas, students have enough choices on hand to celebrate Valentine’s Day at varying price tags. As the holiday is nearing, many may see that thoughtful planning lies at the core of meaningful celebrations.
