Former Otterbein360 editor Anna Schiffbauer has won a case in the Ohio Supreme Court over the release of university police records against Otterbein.
"The stories you read in this paper will never been the same," reads the headline of an editorial published in a Sept. 2012 issue of the Tan and Cardinal. This headline would foreshadow a three-years dispute between Otterbein360 and the former Tan and cardinal and the Otterbein Police Department.
Alumnus Nick Wood is the new Director of Development at Otterbein University.
Otterbein’s LGBTQIA+ awareness week just came to a close this evening, culminating in the university's version of the national Day of Silence last evening at 5pm. Despite the schools racial demographics, the high rate of sexual and gender diversity felt on campus made for a week full of celebration of the student body’s uniqueness, inclusiveness, and some somber remembrance for those who have lost their lives because they didn't feel they had the ability to speak out about something as defining as whom they loved. Yet the welcoming environment of Otterbein is not viewed positively, or evenly passively, by all across the nation.
In a release today from President Krendl’s office, Heidi Tracy, vice president for institutional advancement and head of the Where We Stand initiative, accepted a position as vice president for University Advancement at Texas Woman’s University. Her last day will be May 22.
Otterbein University’s administration continues to speak about transparency as an important tenet of their values. This is reflected in campaigns such as the Model Community and in the rhetoric of the administration. However, we believe that Otterbein’s policies as they stand fail to uphold these values and, therefore, the interests of its students.
It has been nearly a week since the fatal car crash that killed Otterbein student PJ Cleary and 35-year-old Richard Birney. The university has still not released an official statement regarding the incident. We believe that this is not only a fault on the hands of Otterbein’s administration, but uncharacteristic of the Model Community the university promotes.

Otterbein is requiring that all current students complete sexual assault prevention training.
