Otterbein volleyball dominates in season opener against Rose-Hulman

Otterbein dominated in their first match of the Otterbein/Capital tournament against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, three sets to none tonight.

The Cards came out strong in the first set starting off with a 10-2 lead, but over the course of the set the teams would go back and forth.

Otterbein ultimately maintained their ten point lead giving them the first set win over the Fightin’ Engineers 25-12.

In the second set the Cards jumped out to another big lead 13-5 and continued to build on it winning the set 25-13.

Midway through the second set, Rose-Hulman freshman Emily McLendon went down with an ankle injury that caused her to be sidelined for the rest of the match.

The cards continued their impressive performance into the third set giving them the win 25-12 along with the match.

Otterbein redshirt freshman Maddy Shelley recorded 10 kills during the match, breaking her career high for most kills in a game.

This was Shelley’s first match back after having been sidelined all last season due to an injury.
